I arrived at the Grand Canyon’s Mather Point on March 12, 2012 in the evening when the sun was bringing out the wonderful definition and colors inside the canyon’s interior. Clouds were forming in the west. It was a good time to photograph the canyon.
This was the first picture I took. Here the crimson ridge inside the canyon is clearly visible against distant formations which catch the sun’s direct evening rays.
As we moved towards the west and Yavapai Point, additional photographic opportunities became available. Due to the extreme lighting conditions, I used HDR (High Dynamic Range) processing to create these images.
This photo, which was also taken between Mather and Yavapai Points, shows the deep evening colors and formations of the Canyon during evening.
